Your Body's Natural Repair Mechanism

It's unfortunate, but there's no escaping the fact that our health is under attack from more angles and with more ferocity than at any other point in human history. Never before have we had to deal with so many threats: poisoned food, contaminated water, polluted air, electromagnetic frequencies, chronic stress, and damaged or weakened DNA.

Now, more than ever, we need to use all the tools at our disposal to keep us protected from these growing threats and this constant assault on our health; and one of the most effective tools we have is also the most ancient.

Prolonged Fasting for Prolonged Health

Prolonged fasting is characterized by abstaining from foods or caloric liquids for 48+ hours. I usually recommend a 72 hour fast for most people as that seems to be the sweet spot where you're able to get the majority of the rich benefits prolonged fasting has to offer, and the benefits are many.

Fasting Regrows Brain Cells

It may sound incredible, but the science is in,fasting helps regrow brain cells. The particular parts of the brain that appear to be most directly benefited are the hippocampus and the brain stem, which suggest fasting could be highly beneficial for improving memory and removing the feeling of "fogginess".

Fasting Resets Your Immune System

For those of us suffering from autoimmune disease, fasting may be one of the most powerful tools at your disposal as you fight to regain control over your immune system. Research has shown thatfasting for 72+ hours can reset the immune system, halting the progression of autoimmune disease in its tracks. This is a major discovery and a potential source of hope for millions of people.

Increased Energy and Endurance

More research is coming in that shows how prolonged fasting can have a powerful effect atimproving your overall endurance. This is no surprise when you also understand that mitochondria are organelles that live inside of your cells and function as the power plants of our body andfasting increases and strengthens our mitochondria. The stronger and healthier our mitochondria are, the more energy we have.

Fasting Fights Cancer and Kills Tumors

Cancer cells feed off of glucose in the blood, andfasting can essentially starve them out. Furthermore, prolonged fasting has even shown the ability to signal to our immune system to attack cancerous cells and eliminate them. This can be a powerful aid for people suffering from cancer by both starving out the cells and training your immune system to target them.

Prolonged Fasting Should Not Be Neglected

Prolonged fasting has an incredible host of health benefits that serve to keep us safe, healthy, and protected during this period of time where our bodies are under constant assault. I didn't even mention other benefits such as weight loss, cell autophagy, decreasing inflammation, increasing cellular resistance to stress, you could fill several books with the abundance of benefits.

I recommend occasional 72 hour fasts, once every 3 months, or even once a month. This will both help you to conquer your chronic illness as well as keep you protected from contracting one. Just make sure you are staying very well hydrated while you do.
